Ayanna Pressley endorses Kenzie Bok for Boston City Council
Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) today endorsed Kenzie Bok for the District 8 seat on the Boston City Council, citing Kenzie’s commitment to affordability and equity throughout the city of Boston and her long track record of community leadership. Pressley’s congressional district covers many of the neighborhoods that make up District 8, including Back Bay, Fenway, and Mission Hill.
“Kenzie is a first-time candidate, but she isn’t new to this work,” said Pressley. “She has a passion for an inclusive Boston that shows in everything she does -- from building a citywide coalition to pass the Community Preservation Act, to analyzing educational equity in the budget, to participating in faith-based organizing for criminal justice reform. Kenzie sees that affordability is foundational to keeping our families in community and building wealth that is broadly shared. She has the policy knowledge and political expertise to hit the ground running, but most of all Kenzie embodies the commitment to remaining in community that will make her a great advocate for District 8.”
Since her election to Congress in 2018, Congresswoman Pressley has been an ardent advocate for equity, transparency, and accountability in the House of Representatives. She sits on the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. She has sponsored legislation in support of education, access to voting, reproductive rights, affordable housing, trauma-impacted families, and workers’ protections.
“I’m deeply honored to earn Congresswoman Pressley’s endorsement,” said Kenzie. “Ayanna was a fierce advocate for equity and progress on the Boston City Council and she continues to fight for all of our neighbors in Congress. She embodies political courage and truth-telling, acting with urgency and conviction in the face of our most daunting challenges -- whether corruption or climate change or inequality. I would be thrilled to serve, as she did, on the Boston City Council and am humbled to have earned her support.”
Congresswoman Pressley will join Kenzie for a ‘Get Out The Vote’ (GOTV) rally in District 8 on the weekend immediately prior to the November 5th election.
