Michelle Wu Endorses Kenzie
At-large Boston City Councilor Michelle Wu today endorsed Kenzie Bok to be the next city councilor representing District 8. “Kenzie’s deep understanding of policy and government is matched by her love of community and civic engagement,” said Wu. “She’ll be a strong partner in District 8 and across the city to tackle urgent challenges through thoughtful, inclusive leadership. I’m proud to support her as the next District 8 City Councilor for Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Fenway, Kenmore, Audubon Circle, Mission Hill, and the West End.”
In her endorsement, Wu cited Bok’s ability to work at the grassroots level within the community and in government to produce far-reaching results and improve Boston for generations to come. She praised Bok’s work at the Boston Housing Authority and her progressive advocacy as the Chair of the Boston Ward 5 Democrats. Bok and Councilor Wu also worked together to achieve the passage and implementation of the Community Preservation Act (CPA) in 2016, a ballot question that secured more funding for parks, affordable housing, and historic preservation projects across Boston. Bok helped to organize the citywide CPA campaign and draft the enabling ordinance.
“I hugely admire Michelle’s thoughtful policy leadership, her sense of urgency about the big challenges we face, and her deep care for communities all across the city. I’m humbled to earn her endorsement,” said Bok. “As her constituent, I’ve frequently engaged with Michelle on the details of city issues, from oversight of the BPDA to improving transportation infrastructure, and I very much look forward to partnering with her on the Boston City Council.”
On Tuesday, May 21st, Michelle Wu will lead a Rally for Kenzie at 5:30pm outside of Berklee College of Music at 160 Massachusetts Ave to energize supporters and announce her endorsement prior to the District 8 Candidate Forum being hosted by several community organizations at 6pm.
